Of course he should be sacked. If I did the same I would be. It's time these out of touch clowns were made accountable. Get rid of a couple and the others will quickly toe the line.

I seem to recall Mr Rann telling us that he would be listening to the people of SA following the election. Let's see if he listens to this poll.

Dont just worry about the lies and deception of this Government but the example it sends to the bureaucrats and the TAX dollars they continue to absorb. without fear of prosecution.

Without doubt he should resign...or be sacked for incompetence. How can somebody who is supposed to be in charge of the state's coffers simply "forget" something as important as this at such a crucial time?

His pleas of "we all make mistakes, I'm not perfect, I'm not the sharpest tool in the box", are all pretty pathetic calls for sympathy.

Sorry Mr Foley but your past displays of arrogance have caught up with you.

He's lived by the sword for long enough, time to die by it.

As an employee of mine I would like to see him sacked.

by Croweater (03/06/2010)

he makes excuses every time he is caught out, falling back on depression, forgetfullness, etc. etc. This man cannot be trusted with the taxpayers finances. If I did this at my job I would be shown the door.

Should not Mr Rann also resign as from memory Mr Rann signed the pledge that he would keep to his word?
I would like to hear what Mr Rann has to say about all this

Yes he should go mistakes can be made but not to this magnitude. Millions of dollars should not be forgotten like that. Too much incompetence in his position of power. Long live the LIBERALS.

i think he should resign, i have heard on radio this morning that he "forgot" that he had said that...what a load of garbage....i always say if you want to be a politicain you have to be a very good liar, he must think that people of s.a. are stupid, but we are on to you kevin, we are not as silly as you think we are, just pack up your bags and go.

Yes definitely he must go!!!
How can we trust him again? Excuses don't do it for me!!
He couldn't possibly have forgotten, it was far too close to the State election, when all parties were having their say, on the Adelaide Oval or the alternative.Come on Kevin, we didn't come down in the last shower.

Yes Mr Foley should go. I cannot believe that an obviously intelligent man could forget something so important before an election and despite his protestations of lapses of memory I can only believe this is another in a long line of deceptions that ultimately resulted in Labors re-election with a minority vote. Joe Stalin would be proud.

by pete1 (03/06/2010)
mashcam

A man in his position could only conveniently forget something so crucial to a current election - e.g. If a wife told her husband she wanted a divorce, would he forget that 'insignificant' statement. And, where is Rann in all this? Absent as usual. *sigh*

by mashcam (03/06/2010)
kenmid

He has constantly vilified others for deceiving parliament! Consequently he should live by his own standards and resign immediately. That he glorifies himself by humiliating and humbling himself before the populace shows that his skin is that of an elephant and why trust a man who has already deceived parliament? His demeanor in your interview shows him to take the matter lightly!.

YES! YES! PLEASE RESIGN IMMEDIATELY MR FOLEY, A POLITICIAN LIKE YOU WILL SAY AND DO ANYTHING TO STAY IN POLITICS AND IN POWER. YOU AND SOME OF YOUR MATES IN POLITICS ARE ARROGANT, DON'T EVER LISTEN TO WHAT THE PEOLE HAVE TO SAY. YOU ADMIT THAT YOU HAVE NOT THE MOST BRILLIANT BRAIN,YOU HAVE SAID ONE TRUE THING,SO LEAVE WHILE YOU ARE AHEAD. A BEAUTIFUL PLACE LIKE SOUTH AUSTRALIA DOES NOT NEED POLITICIANS LIKE YOU AND MR RANN.THE VOTERS ARE NOT AS SILLY AS YOU THINK.. LABOR WON'T WIN NEXT TIME.

Along with self confessed "blunt tool" Kevin Foley, there are many other blunt tools in this shed of South Australia who voted this rabble back in. They have misled the people and we should have another election immediately.

by JennyGee (03/06/2010)

If he can make a simple mistake by forgetting about a meeting he had just before the elections then what is he forgetting as Treasurer of this state. RESIGN or be SACKED. Mr Rann would have known that Foley was going to come clean so made sure he was NOT(once again) in the country.

I believe he should resign. Forgetfulness in a Treasurer does not give one confidence!! There was a definite promise by Rann and Foley -"Not one cent more." Well, that is what we expected. Not a further bail out to SACA. What other lapses has he had?

by LyndaDD (03/06/2010)
lffoar

Of course he should resign but of course when media lance rann gets back it will be simply wink wink, nudge nudge over a couple of $90 ports in the parliamentary bar at our expense and hide away until the storm blows over! Disgusting!!

It doesn't matter who is in power. If the Libs were in and they built a new stadium, that would blow out as well guaranteed, but, I find it impossible to believe that this wasn't a calculated mistake, and for that, it's time to go.

Shame on Mr Foley, forgetting something so important that it could change the outcome of an election, and for now thinking that he can excuse his actions by saying that he forgot...we are not stupid. Your staffer brought to your attention that he /she knew about it and it would only be a matter of time before it was leaked out so your best means of defence was to own up publicly and cover up by saying you forgot. Yet another action showing your complete contempt for the S.A. public, your interview showed no remorse, all we could hear was the arrogance and expectation of everyone forgiving you and moving on. Sorry Mr Foley, you have always bullied others into what you wanted including their resignation, so I hope they return in kind to you giving you what you have been asking for for a very long time. Your government did not win the March election, you all stole it from the Liberals which was the voters FIRST choice by these exact lies and deceitful actions. He who lies will reap the rewards, in this case it should be the loss of your job. Get out immediately!!

I am once again reminded of the brilliant comedy show 'Yes Minister' always thought it was fictional, but am beginning to realize that it was probably based on fact. I think this is just the way of politics, they treat us like idiots and we let them get away with it. How does someone with no accounting or financial background get to be treasurer of our fair state... I'm baffled.

It's about time you have fallen on your own sword Mr Foley. The extra $85 million dollars you are wasting on the "Adelaide Oval" concept could have been used to pay the ongoing token weekly wages for those workers injured on Workcover who have had their benefits cut due to the rediculous changes done by your government.
Instead of propping up a sporting body (SACA) when we already have a facility such as AAMI Stadium is a joke when your government fails to protect injured workers. Funny isn't it that once upon a time the Labour Party actually protected workers but now days casts these poor buggers into an unknown financial future simply because they had an accident at work. No wonder we have dole bludgers....it's safer to stay home!
Do the right thing and walk Mr Foley your fairy tale is about to end.

it's time the polly's started taking notice of what the people of this state want, (people didn't want the tram extension but they still went ahead with it anyway).
Lets stop wasting money on a oval that will not have AFL played on it, it's time to stop the large spending spree. where's the premier (bad news mike) oh thats right he only goes infront of the Media when he is trying to suck up to the voters on what a great job he is doing. its time for him to answer the hard questions. not hidding from the media with that smug grin he has.
He must sack the treasurer, or resign himself he needs to remember he's the Premier not a friend, you can't be both in Politics.

I believe he has a determination to make this work for the sake of making this state better, maybe its as stupid as putting a man on the moon with 60's technology but its worth the effort. Footy park can be a pain to get to and Adelaide oval WILL be more easier for more people and much better for visitors to our great city, he has shown humanity and humility which is rare in politics, and is that a bad thing? did not the great leader of the federal liberal party also say on radio that in the heat of the moment he may not speak the absolute truth in matters which may decide the future of our government?

If you lie, you must have a good memory. His arrogance has finally caught up with him. If he lied, then Rann knew .. one is the premier, the other treasurer. The last election is now a complete farce and I feel disappointed for Redman. They are both complicit and as we teach our children .. with every action is a consequence! Sack them both and bring in the ICAC as recommended by Redman.

It shows by most of the comments that Mr Foley doesn't have many friends outside of parliament, hopefully he has some there. Haveing said that though Istill believe he misled parliament and had he bought this to light immediately he was aware of it then labor polititians would be sitting on oposition benches and the problem would be in Liberals court.

Hello to all the negative people. If you all had your own opinion and didn't follow the popular views, things could be far more pleasant for you. Here's two of mine. 1. Do you think members of parliament (a) try to do the best they can for the people and place of where they live, or (b)couldn't care less. Unless you base your life on negativity there is only one answer. And number 2. If you were told a building project cost $450 million and another lot were told $535 million the reaction would be the same. Some would make believe that they could make a definitive comment, like too expensive, not worth it, too cheap etc. instead of positive feedback and ideas. 99% could not make an informed comment on costings, including me.
However, if your mind is not clouded by predjudice and you know a place, like me (0 - 55 so far) you just know we can keep on improving things and have projects to improve our lives and lifestyle and continue to pay for them. Do we want to think, I'm here now and I don't want the gov spending our taxes or do we want to spend and build and think for the future 10, 20 ,100 years.
I'm positive that the gov. will do their best, I'm positive projects are done to better our city and state. WHY WOULD IT BE ANYTHING ELSE! When you thik about things consider this. I love Port Adelaide passionately but I love footy more than that.
