Afternoons Producer Monique Bowley was recently chastised by one G. Cornes for wearing slippers at work because her feet were cold. Cornesy didn't feel Slippers were appropriate for the workplace or anywhere in public.

Are you concerned with modern workplace dress standards?
Or should you beable to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable if it is not hindering your performance?

Slippers at work - YES or NO?

Not good enough, Monique. Cornesy is right.

You have to be warm and comfortable to be able to do your job properly. If your feet are cold it makes even walking hard. Slippers are absolutely fine at work. Provided you have the sort of job where you are not seen by the public. ie: shop assistant. Sitting at a desk would be fine.

Moot point! I guess if you are unseen, what does it matter. HOWEVER, you can get warmer shoes, boots etc also. I tend to go with the "being well-presented" at work ethos myself.

I thought 5AA had airconditioning - doesn't it heat as well. Surprised Cornsey didn't jump up and down at the rest of the outfit. Hey! I reckoned it looked ok and the shoes/slippers match. Cornsey is --- well, Cornsey.

Well, Monique looks great in slippers!! be better if it was only slippers!!! but seriously, if she is at work in her booth and needs to keep her feet warm I don't see the problem! I can't wear slippers to work because my job calls for heavier footwear!, but given the opportunity I would love too!
Cornsey (as usual) needs to pull his head in! I bet he goes home and puts on a leppard print snuggie!!!

Beats bare feet! I know someone working in a surgeon's office who kicks off her shoes as soon as she arrives and walks around barefoot for the rest of the day! Yuk!

'UGG BOOTS' would be ok too! In an out of the public way workplace seems ok by me...

Sounds like those strange people you see wandering round the supermarket in their slippers. I don't want to sound like a snob but it does look "common".

Yeah - like Cornesy the fashion guru has credibility, perhaps he should stick to what he knows - opinions on sport.

If Monique reads S21(1) of the OHS&W Act 1986 I think she would wear the correct footwear in the work environment. Such cases have been brought before and the employer has alsways been supported in not allowing such footwear. Cornsey is spot on.

IF everyone followed the "book" to the letter, there would NEVER be any work done!

If it annoys Cornesy, then that's more than enough to justify wearing slippers in the workplace.

When you see some of the outfits his wife nearly wears you can tell all their taste is in their mouths

Half the female work force are on doubtful ground with thongs & ballerina courts at work & the blokes wear long pants & dress shoes

I was working in a school & went into the tech studies area & saw 3 girls in thongs, when I pointed it out to the teacher operating a radial arm saw he said to me, "isn't it OK to wear thongs in here"?
