Struggling Gum Tree amongst Pine Trees

One of the surving gum trees in the Highbury Aquaduct Reserve. It has lost of its branches and is about to die. The area is naturally a Savanna - widely space trees with large areas for the tree roots to catch water. NOT a Forest (more than 90% cover) The Pinus Radiata have now infested the area and their competition is killing the gum trees. The only solution is the removal of the Pine Trees. There are yellow markers on numbers of pine trees indicating plans for them to be removed.
