If we are going to change the flag to reflect Modern Australia, what will it achieve?

There will still be inequality, racism, violence and crime.

Changing our nations flag will not stop people from feeling the way they do and having their opinions, whether right or wrong about other people and their beliefs.

And for the people bagging out Australian supporters wearing the flag at the tennis, you really need to get out more. Unless they are burning the flag, they are patriotic and supporting their countrymen.

The flag should be changed but not because it has been bastardised. We should change the flag because we are no longer a dominion of Britain, thats all. If you just change the flag the groups of people who are using it now will continue to use it and turn it into a flag similar to the Nazi flag, it will become more symbolic of nationalistic right winged hate. It will perpetuate the problem. If all you are after is to stop the destruction of the flag improve the image, use it more often at other events.

The Australian flag should be changed to remove the Union Jack from it. The union jack gives the impression that we are still a colony of mother england instead of a strong independant country.

Yes, yes, YES we should. Personally, I believe the Australian flag should ACCURATELY represent why Australians are in the 21st Century, where no matter the colour of our skin we are the result of tyrannical British Rule and the Eureka Revolt, so our (new) Australian flag should rightly be the Eureka Flag in the centre of the Union Jack with only about 10% of the Union Jack visible on all four boarders.
