The Former Brownlow Medallist decided to draw a close on his controversial career despite having the support of Richmond coach Damien Hardwick to continue on for another year.
In his media conference Cousins thanks his family for their support during difficult times as he dealt with drug addiction. He also thanked first club West Coast Eagles and then Richmond who gave him another chance at AFL football.
