There has been a dramatic development on the reality pop show The X-Factor.

Josh Brookes, one of the contestants, has been disqualified.

Channel 7 says Brookes behaved in an inappropriate manner online, putting him in breach of his responsibilities to the program.

There are reports than Brookes asked for fans to send in 'banana pics' during an unauthorised live web chat. Some believe that meant for them to send in nude pictures of themselves.

An announcement on a new contestant will be made soon.
