Pressure's mounting on the state labor party to dump Mike Rann as premier.
A new poll in the Sunday Mail shows 65% of voters want Mr Rann to step down within 12 months and they want Jay Weatherill to replace him.
The education minister has 40% support as opposed to Mr Rann's 27%.
Politics expert Clem McIntyre, Mr Weatherill has been a steady performer.
"He came into the parliament in 2002 when the Rann government was first elected, he clearly came in with a lot of ambition and intent to get to the top. I think he's performed very well as a minister, he's kept a pretty clean record."
