An Adelaide Wedding was saved on the weekend thanks to a call to FIVEaa. Just hours before her Wedding Ceremony Maddy Thornton's Brides Maid's dress was locked up in a dry cleaners shop and they were unable to contact the owners to open the store.
Maddy was due to be married on Sunday afternoon and arrived to pick up the Brides Maid's dress from the dry cleaner on Saturday afternoon, only to find the store closed. The dress had been dropped off on Friday for a last minute press. Maddy and her Brides Maid Alicia believed the dry cleaner would be open until 5pm like the majority of the shops in the complex.
In a panic and still unable to contact the store owner Maddy's brother-in-law, a work collegue of Channel Seven and FIVEaa broadcaster Mike Smithson, called Mike to ask for some assistance. Mike suggested a call to FIVEaa on Saturday night. Unfortunately this call out proved to be fruitless.
In a last ditch effort to get the dress back Alicia called again on Sunday Morning during the Sunday Roast with Wayne Phillips and Leith Forrest. Leith put the call out to all the listeners to see if they knew anyone that worked at the Dry Cleaner in question and finally a response.
A loyal FIVEaa listener heard the call and knew someone who worked at the shopping complex and Maddy and Alicia were able to retrieve the dress just in time. Wedding disaster averted!
A great Adelaide story which illustrates the strength of the FIVEaa community and their willingness to help a stranger save one of the biggest days in their life.
