Premier in waiting Jay Weatherill says there'll be no leadership spill to remove Mike Rann from office and is asking people need to be patient with the transition period.

Legislative Council president Bob Sneath claims left aligned MP's will call for a spill, unless Mr Rann leaves office within weeks.

While Mr Rann has endorsed Mr Weatherill has his successor, he wants to leave on his own terms and that may not be for several months.
