Public pressure has seen the State Government ease water restrictions for our dying lawns and gardens.

.We'll be able to water any day for a total of five hours per week, but the hours remain the same, 6-9 in the morning and evening..

The changes will come into effect at midnight with two 41 degree days forecast this week.

In this household we don't use the full 3 hours a week but I must admit to breaking the hours that I use the hose. I want to have drinking water rather than a green lawn.

Do they really think that people are going to divide 7 by 5 to find out their daily allowance? or time themselves daily eg "Oppps" I didn't use my allocated timed allowance today, I'd better go and re-calculate......STOP mucking about, at least after 3 years people were used to the odds even system, and the gardens by now cant be any deader than they are.

The easing of water restrictions was not a government decision, it was the peoples decision. It was clear that the people were going to ignore the restrictions if they were not made more reasonable. Now that they have changed, the number of people willing to follow them should increase again. Just goes to show that the people can influence government. Personally, I save water as best I can, whilst still protecting the environment by growing plants, so the water restrictions seldom effect me. I'm responsible without needing Mikey to bring out the whip, but I don't pay much attention to his restrictions on water. I don't believe water is expensive enough, but I do believe that once I've paid for it, noone should tell me what I can do with it.

So I am now allowed to stand spraying my hose where ever I like for 5 hours a week but I'm not allowed to use my specially planed and installed sprinkler system for 1 hour a week? Sounds like the sort of logic you'd expect from a politician!!

Well i see the SA Water officers will send a warning for using to much water from the air vap system. But on request on how much water loss is to much, they could not answer. Interesting a non qualified SA water office could not answer that question and was not a fully qualified air con service/repairer and was going on a visual check. Then if fined it comes from SA police who are going on a sight check from a non qualified person with no actual measurement of the acutal loss. Maybe the police could save a lot of money and be like sa water and fine you on a visual check. Come on SA water if you are going to send warnings or fines, make sure the officer is qualifed and taken an actual measurement. The funny thing is when she told us we were using to much water we said well we have booked in for a normal annual service so she said then we will send you a warning. Instead of draining water from dams why not say OK SA home owners today you can use water for that day for 6 hours. Helps gardeners water plants and less water gone out to sea. Oh our air con system drains staright to the garden and not to sea as sa water does when a dam is full.
