Aussie youngster Bernard Tomic is out of the Australian Open after a straight sets loss to Roger Federer last night.

After a tight 1st set Federer cruised to victory 6-4 6-2 6-2.

In the nights other big match womens top seed Caroline Wozniacki blitzed Jelena Jankovic in straight sets to set up a 1/4 final clash against Kim Clijsters

Tomic says the loss wil make him an even better player.

"Last time I learned a lot of things when I played him and this time I learned even more. For me it's a great pleasure and honour to play him and I think you learn a lot over the period when you play these top guys. You can only get better if you lose against them."

Roger Federer has shown the 19 year old respect after the match saying he can see a bright future for the Aussie.

"He's already very good, I mean how much better do you want him? He's improved a whole lot already in 4 or 5 months."

Lleyton Hewitt is now the last Australian standing in the singles event, he faces Novak Djokovic tonight.
