There's reportedly a renewed push to install Jay Weatherall as premier by spring.

The leadership speculation has again been re-ignited by labor backbencher Leon Bignell.

He's told the Advertiser, labor factional leaders should get together and draw up a succession plan for the eventual replacement of Mike Rann.

The latest Newspoll out today has more bad news for Mr Rann, Labor still trails the opposition 54% to 46% two party preferred while the premier's dissatisfaction rating stands at 59%.

Political commentator Hayden Manning says it certainly raises more questions than answers.

"Mainly what it means is there's conversation within the ranks of the Labor party about how much longer there is for Premier Rann, would we like him to up stumps quietly or should we move to push him out. That's the sort of chatter giong on among the Labor MP's."
