A powerful earthquake has jolted the western Indonesian island of Sumatra overnight.
People streamed from their homes in panic and a 12-year-old boy was killed.
Hundreds of patients from at least one hospital had to be evacuated, some in wheelchairs or with drips still attached to their arms.
The US Geological Survey says the 6.6-magnitude quake was centred 100 kilometres southwest of the city of Medan at a depth of 110 kilometres. It hit about 1am local time.
