Preparations for the Southern Expressway duplication will step up a gear from tomorrow morning.

The Transport Department will install safety barriers in preparation for road works.

It'll mean the expressway will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm on weekdays until February 10th.

This Saturday it'll be closed between 8am and 5pm.

Lou George from the Transport Department says there could be temporary speed limit changes when the expressway is accessbile.
 

" There'll be restrictions on the expressway adjacent these new barriers. Those restrictions will be 80km in the areas where the barriers have been installed with a more localised area at 60km down the Darlington escarpment."
