Plans to put a curfew on pubs and clubs has been scrapped.

The State Government wanted to close licensed premises between four and seven in the morning to reduce alcohol-fuelled violence.

But Ian Horne from the Hotels Association says he's pleased some of the state government reforms have been passed, including giving police the power to dole out harsher fines to those acting up in venues.

"There's been some common sense applied. We're going to have an act in South Australian that empowers police, that empowers beurocrats, that puts the individuals on notice and holds the industry to account but doesn't pose a curfew across the state on all operators good, bad or indifferent.
