Today marks 60 years since Queen Elizabeth became the British monarch and Australia's head of state.
Her 60-year reign is a milestone achieved by only one other British monarch, Queen Victoria, who took to the throne aged 18 and ruled until 1901.
The royal family will save their official celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee until June.
There will be a 41 gun salute at Green Park and a 61 gun salute at the Tower of London to celebrate.
