The AFL today said it had accepted an explanation from the Port Adelaide Football Club, regarding the use of a stretcher for player Jacob Surjan late in the fourth quarter of last week’s Round Two match against West Coast at Subiaco.

AFL General Manager Football Operations Adrian Anderson said the AFL now considered the matter to be closed, but that all clubs would be reminded that any attempt to use the rules regarding stretchers for tactical purposes could result in sanctions.
