A $1.3 billion wind farm will be built on the Yorke Peninsula.
Indian based firm Suzlon Group, who have already built 6 farms here in South Australia will build the new farm 20km south west of Ardrossan.
The project, which will create up to 500 jobs during construction and around 50 ongoing positions over the next 25 years, should be completed by the end of 2015.
The farm will create up to 600 megawatts of electricity a day which which will then be connected to the Adelaide grid via an under sea cable.
That would provide enough power for 225 thousand homes a year or 25% of South Australia's daily consumption.
It's one of the projects outgoing Premier Mike Rann wanted to complete before he steps down in October saying the state will get a lot of positives out of the construction.
"It will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, they're terrific in terms of local farmers who get paid for putting the pylons and turbines on their land, they're also great for local jobs."
There are some concerns from locals who are worried about the look of the turbines... but Yorke Peninsula Mayor Ray Agnew says they've picked the perfect spot.
"Most of the trees lean to the north because of the prevailing winds coming up the gulf.'
The project is still to pass local council and planning authorities.
