The State government isn't giving in to pleas for more money from the Adelaide Zoo.

The Zoo is battling a crippling 24 million dollar debt and is asking for increased grants from the government.

But treasurer Jack Snelling says an increase won't be considered until next year's budget at the earliest.

"The government needs to make sure that our hospitals, schools and police are all funded. I'm more than happy to consider it, i'll give it consideration in the context of the wider demands that our government faces."
