New Leaders at AFL Clubs

Melbourne Football Club have announced young guns Jack Grimes and Jack Trengove as co-captains. At 20 years and 181 days Trengove becomes the youngest ever AFL captain. The move is a strong indication that it is the beginning of a new era at the Demons with senior players overlooked for leadership roles. Joining Grimes and Trengove in the revamped squad are Clint Bartram, Mitch Clark, James Frawley, Colin Garland, Mark Jamar and Nathan Jones.

Nick Maxwell has been retained as Collingwood captain with three new faces in the leadership group. Heath Shaw returns to the group, with Dale Thomas and Travis Cloke joining the squad for the first time. Scott Pendlebury remains vice-captain while Luke Ball and Harry O'Brien round out the group.

North Melbourne have announced Andrew Swallow as their skipper for 2012 and beyond. Veteran Brent Harvey steps down after 3 years as captain but will be retained in the five main leadership group with other members, Drew Petrie, Jack Ziebel and Daniel Wells.

The Cats announce midfield star Joel Selwood as its new captain replacing the retired cameron Ling.Harry Taylor, Corey Enright, James Kelly and Steve Johnson are the other members of the highly experienced leadership group.
