Lleyton Hewitt has won through to the second round at Wimbledon but Sam Stosur has fallen at the first hurdle.

Hewitt advanced after a 4 set win over Japan's Kei Nishikori. The veteran Aussie took the first set 6-1 and while he couldn't close it out in 3 sets, the final result was never in any doubt.

Hewitt is now through to the second round to face 5th seed Robyn Soderling.

Sam Stosur won't be playing anyone though after she failed to impress in the first round. The 10th seed had high expectations following her into the competition but they went out the window as she fell 6-3 6-4 to Melinda Czink.

In more good new for Australia, Bernard Tomic took out Nikolay Davykenko in 3 sets but Marinko Matosevic went down to Juan Ignacio Chela.

Other big names to win through on day two include Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Li Na, Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams.
