After sacking Mark Harvey yesterday the Fremantle Dockers have moved quickly to secure the signature of Ross Lyon who up until yesterday evening was the coach of St Kilda.
Lyon has signed a four year deal. Fremantle president Steve Harris saying
“Ross’s professional attributes and coaching style are founded on a demanding worth ethic highlighted by his professionalism, diligence and a ruthless will to win,”
“It is clear that Ross can deliver a consistent and successful game style while at the same time continue to build the culture of our playing group."
“Despite the disquiet caused by our decision to end Mark Harvey’s tenure at Fremantle, we believe it was the right decision in the long-term interests to appoint Ross to take over as a senior coach of the club."
Earlier today St Kilda Football club held a press conference to express their disappointment with Lyon's decison to leave the club. CEO Michael Nettlefold stated that the club had been dealing with Lyon's management and had believed they would be confirming Lyons re-appointment yesterday.
Lyon and the Fremantle Football club will hold a press conference later today in Perth.
