The entire Federal cabinet has been gagged, as Prime Minister Julia Gillard tries to end speculation over her leadership.

The extraordinary move means ministers must seek permission from the PM's office before speaking to the media.

The move is a bid to end continuing rumours Kevin Rudd is planning to make a bid to return to the lodge.

But unfortunately for Ms Gillard, despite the gag, at least one of her senior MP's leaked the details to the media.
