A drink for someone who has reportedly attacked another from behind.
Questionable assertion at best. Forget who the victim is, I hope this person is found and dealt with accordingly!

I am just glad he is a politician and not in the army. It looks he was hit by a butterfly and takes time off? Why is this guy out in Hindley st at that hour and why can't these people in positions of trust just tell the truth? You would think in any position in ilfe the bullshit you speak will catch up with you and here it did? Honestly would we win ww1 and ww2 if they were fought in these times?

MAAAAAATE! ! It is impossible to punch a bloke in the face from behind, of course if they're pissed you can walk up to them & they won't see it coming, funny that.

Foley was out drinking at various nightclubs till 3am, he got upset when a 18 year old girl refused to dance with him, Marble Bar manager Rob Kent said security staff told him Mr Foley was clearly intoxicated when he arrived outside the bar.

Setting a great example for a deputy premier! .. and you voted for him

Dungy, you have to remember that even a Minister in this Government (Michael O'Brien in case Paula forgot) finally admitted the truth, South australians are not as smart as the other states, as proved by ( dare I say it) Victoria just last weekend.

The heading of this forum is a disgrace, When SA was a democracy, you were innocent until proved guilty, this header has already assumed that he is guilty & I wonder at his chances to get a fair trial.

by Rob52 (01/12/2010)

Assuming that there will be a show trial & a guilty verdict comes down, the mildness of the offence one would presume that no conviction will be recorded, after all if run down a cyclist & leave him to die in agony, you only get a $3000 fine, this is a far, far lesser offence

Does it really matter? Do the politicly correct go around look for stuff like that so that they get to use the word alleged or allegedly? If it's clearly known that he did it - then he did it, not 'alleged' at all.

What irks me is how much fuss is being made over it. Had it been 'Joe Bloe' would there have been this much exposure? No. It's been on TV, talked about on radio, made the front page of the newspaper posted on the 5aa website. This sort of thing happens every weekend to some poor unfortunate soul and there's barley a mention but look at the exposure this case is getting. It's another example of one rule for us and another one for them.

I wonder if this CCTV footage is going to show what actually happened?
First up Fooly (sic) fronts up with a scratch on his nose saying he's been 'king hit' from behind, the next day we're being told Fooly (sic) was punched in the face. Now we all know he's a two faced b******d but really, get the story straight for once!

by Whyisitso (01/12/2010)
ElizabethFred

"They" say he was there for hours, talking to bouncers and other people, yet that is all they come up with on CCTV? So we work out he has a watch on his left arm, smokes and has some sort of dark jacket over his shoulder.
And now, they have interstate police wasting their time looking for him - what, to put him up for an AO?

by ElizabethFred (01/12/2010)

God help the poor bugger if he banged his head on a cupboard ar stubbed his toe on the end of the bed, he'd need a month or two off work (or what he pass off as being work).

I saw today in the paper that two oxygen thieves who beat the cr@p out of some poor old bloke in the dunny at Hungry Jack's so badly that he needed multiple metal plates in his head got suspended sentences, so if they catch Fooley's alledged assailant & take him to court you would have to think that this was nothing by comparison so shouldn't even get a conviction against him. What do you think? ? ? ?

Not as out there as the left wing wankos will want you to belive Fred.
If a sitting Labor Prime minister can be tossed out of the highest Office in Australia
,Whats a quiet word in to some coppers ear to hold of for a day or so.

I must add to this point , in no way am accusing Police minister Michael Wright or any one in his department of misusing there office to try to protect the Labor party & its members from further POLITICAL EMBARRASSMENT.

Political Embarrassment is a very serious issue for our Labor government of today,
As with our farmers running out of water in a time of FLOOD ,Labor will not act to help our farmers in fear of POLITICAL EMBARRASSMENT

I find some of the comments on here such as

",Mick just blew my alibi and admitted he was at a greek festival that night, SO, I confess I did it!!!!"

"What are you guys talking about , i did it i hit him with my Feather Duster ?I DID IT!! - Even got the weapon to prove it,a rolled up ball of :water rates, emergency services rates, land rates, electricity bill, all rolled up in a fake Family First T shirt!!"

"Kevin Foley deserves this and more. Remember his comments over the mining protesters being capsicum sprayed and put in shipping containers by SAPOL? One of those people was a young girl and he referred to them as 'ferals'. I think many people would like to punch him. We're all suspects"

sickening. David hooks was king hit so was that young footballer . They both died . A murder charge or manslaughter charge where only a few degrees of seperation from foleys attacker . You guys need to take a good look at yourselves.

Firstly, despite the erroneous use of the phrase "king hit" Kevvy was hit from the front, a "king hit" is a blow to the pate, from his wounds this was clearly not the case. Despite the "Kangaroo court" mentality of the original poster, NO CRIME HAS BEEN PROVEn, thus you can't call anyone a criminal, yet. The alledged vitim in this case is culpable too, you don't put yourself into situations that you are not capable of handling. by Rob52 (22/01/2011)

From AdelaideNow:

+++THE first stage of the long-awaited court case of embattled treasurer Kevin Foley starts today.
Ante Tony Grgich, the 29-year-old Rosewater man charged with assaulting state Treasurer and Deputy Premier Kevin Foley, will answer the charges in Adelaide Magistrates Court for the first time.
The unusual haste with which the case has reached court - the man was arrested nine days ago on January 19, two days after Mr Foley left Adelaide for an overseas business trip - has also raised public interest because most non-aggravated assault charges usually take about a month to get to court. +++

I am wondering if "they" are trying to get this out of the way before Fooley gets back from his holiday in the US

Let's face it, it would serve no purpose if Fooley was in court anyway, "I don't remember" is his catchcry of late!!!

TalkBackKing

Where is this footage?? Fair enough seeing a few snapshots. However im sure the CCTV vision would paint a better picture than a few still shots and a blurb about "his attacker'!

Has SAPOL actually released the footage or just snapshots? Has anyone seen it??

by TalkBackKing (28/01/2011)
ElizabethFred

There is some footage on AdelaideNow, but all it shows is some guy (presumable him) talking to the security guy for about 20 seconds - I hope they have more than that!!!!
On checking it is 23 seconds, and all this guy does is twirl his hand around in front of his head indicating some is a nut-case or has a screw-loose. Maybe he is referring to Foley.

What is more disturbing is the footage of him leaving the court with a female (reporter) asking "why did you hit Foley" - now that is conviction by the media if ever I heard it. - Didn't they ask the same of Lindy Chamberlain when she was leaving the court. But then, it is only following the opinions of several forumers on this forum!!!

by ElizabethFred (28/01/2011)

I read an article somewhere that the accused has been allowed to leave the state, so that well may be true, Chockylover. I also seem to recall that, among other people, members of parliament (Liberals included, just in case anyone screams left-wing bias ) are classified as "dignitaries" and because of that there is a special "branch" that deals with them. This might be another reason why this case seems to have progressed so quickly. If I can find the articles, I'll post them here...

Found the articles I mentioned...

CIB detectives are attached to the Protective Security Investigation Section, which, as part of its function, protects ``dignitaries''.

A DIGNITARY includes the Governor-General, State and Territory Governors, members of the judiciary, heads of foreign countries or their representative, any other person determined to be a dignitary and members of Parliament, which means Mr Foley.

``Mr Kevin Foley is a dignitary (by) the definition and, as such, the assault matter is one which falls within the Protective Security Investigation Section,'' Supt Clark said. Police would not comment on the investigation, the bail date or witness statements.

When Kevvy was recounting his story on the breaky show he hinted that they could have been connected with a biker group that's currently in town and hinted that they could have some union members with a grudge to bear. He could also have said that they were just ordinary members of the public who wanted to do him what he has done to the state or that they were just yobs who he had rubbed up the wrong way.

He reckons he just said to the three men "what's your problem?" I would suggest it's more likely that he said, "what's YOUR problem?" which invoked an unwelcome response.
