US reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce after just 72 days of marriage.

The 31 year old tied the knot with basketball player Kris Humphries on August 20, in a lavish ceremony worth an estimated $20 million.

The event was filmed for the Kardashian's reality show but Kim has denied her brief marriage was just a publicity stunt.

Kris Humphroies has released a statement this morning about his impending divorce saying he had no idea his wife wanted to end their marriage. 

"I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
