Julia Gillard Overtakes Tony Abbott

The latest opinion poll shows Julia Gillard is in front of Tony Abbott as preferred prime minister for the first time in nine months.

She's up 6 points to 48% compared with the coalition leader who's unchanged on 46%.

But Ms Gillard still trails Kevin Rudd, 57% to 35% percent.

On the party front, the coalition still holds an election winning lead in both primary and two party preferred votes
