AUSSIE fast bowler Peter Siddle will miss the rest of the summer of cricket and the upcoming tour of New Zealand after it was revealed he had a stress fracture in his back.
Aussie team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Siddle felt the pain during the one-day series against Pakistan.
“The source of the pain was investigated after the fifth ODI and unfortunately scans revealed that he has a lower back stress fracture,” Kountouris said.
“The nature of this injury means that Peter will require a long rehabilitation period and as such he’ll be unavailable for the remainder of the domestic summer and the tour of New Zealand.”
The tour of New Zealand is not due to finish until the end of March, meaning Siddle will miss at least two months of cricket.
Australia plays a Twenty20 match against Pakistan at the MCG on Friday and a one-day international against the West Indies on Sunday, also at the MCG.
