CuBBYHOuSE is a two-person comedy powerhouse that takes the audience through the wistful characters’ personal journeys of self discovery, guided by their imaginations.
A live soundtrack, snappy tunes and witty dialogue underscore a rollicking good time with serious questions about finding meaning in work and life.
Aside from a smattering of coarse language and some dark themes, this show is highly recommended for Fringe goers of all ages.
Festival Drumming – by Matsuri Taiko

This Adelaide trio takes on the Japanese drumming art of taiko, massive barrel-like drums that thunder through the Nexus venue, building a wall of sound that intrigues and energises.
Any doubts as to whether three girls beating drums for an hour could hold the attention are quickly pushed aside as the variety of pace, style and sound comes apparent. The troupe sways effortlessly between peaceful pattering and crashing crescendos, demonstrating each individual’s precise skills and grand respect for this ancient art.

Violet Rapscallion (A Stray Cabaret) – by Bird Wizdom

At the soul of this extravagant tour de force is the breathy, sensual performance of lead artiste Anya McNicol Windram. Anya drives the show’s narrative and drama through a series of musical set pieces, interspersed with solo instrumental performances, band numbers, belly dancing and gymnastic displays of ballet-trained dance.
The overall effect is a wonderfully disorienting 90 minutes that passes in a flash; you might not have followed the loose story line, but you’re more than happy to be lost in the magnificent performances, the show’s boundless energy and Anya’s glowing charisma.
Guitar Sketches – Presented by Aloysius Leeson

As the name suggests, home-grown Adelaide guitar talent Aloysius Leeson takes the audience for a musical tour of the places that have inspired his art. His delicate and skillful pluckings visit South America, the United States and provincial villages of Russia before returning home again with his own magnificent compositions.
The sheer variety of music – ranging from flamenco to funk – and Aloysius’s passion for each style, coupled with his finessed yet respectful playing, make for an evening of music that is as educational as it is immensely enjoyable.
