Lawyers for wounded bikie Vince Focarelli say they'll appeal a decision to deny him bail.

The 37 year old was yesterday refused bail in a phone link up at the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he's recovering from gunshots wounds from an ambush atr Dry Creek 10 days ago, which killed his son.

The magistrate said Focarelli should stay in custody for public safety while his lawyers argued he'd be a sitting duck.

An appeal to the Supreme Court is expected to be heard in the coming days.
 

If bail is denied Focarelli will be moved to a remand centre or Yatala in a few days. It is then up to the facility whether he be allowed to attend Giovanni's funeral on Friday.
