There'll be a strong police presence at the funeral today of bikie Giovanni Focarelli.

The 22 year old son of self styled Commancheros leader Vince Focarelli was gunned down in an ambush at Dry Creek late last month.

His father survived and has been recovering in the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he's twice been refused bail on drug trafficking charges.

He's now asked the correctional services department for compassionate leave to attend this afternoon's service for Giovanni at the Al-Khalil Mosque at Woodville.
