Text Publishing will be releasing a list of ‘forgotten’ Australian classics in April 2012 at a special price of $12.95 each. The Watch Tower is one of the classics on this list. Written by Elizabeth Harrower, it is set in Sydney in the years surrounding WWII. The story begins when sisters Laura and Clare are withdrawn from private boarding school by their self-focused mother, a British woman who has never really adjusted to life in Australia. Elizabeth Harrower’s novels show "a psychological fascination with deep-seated human motivations, fears and obsessions”.
