A Confederacy of Dunces set the benchmark for all comedic novels following its publication in 1980. It is Dylan’s favourite book, and he has been looking for a reason to re-read it for a while now. The novel is set in New Orleans during the early 1960’s, and it follows an incredible character named Ignatius J. Reilly. Ignatius is an educated, incredibly lazy sloth of a man who lives with his mother in the city’s Uptown neighbourhood.

John Kennedy Toole posthumously won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981 for this novel.

Hi Amanda
Went to Glenelg for a walk around and dropped into Pages and More and picked up the last copy on the shelf of Confederacy of Dunces. Have just finished it what a read. Definitely the most different book I have ever read and it was a hoot - just wish I could have jumped in those pages and thumped Ignatius one. Aslo bouquets to Pages and More fantastic staff & service!! Just wish I could have suggested The Lightkeepers Wife by ACT write Karen Viggers brilliant book!!
