Doctors in the US say a 9-year-old girl is making a remarkable recovery, days after surgeons transplanted six of her organs in a groundbreaking medical procedure.

They removed an aggressive cancerous growth that was attacking Alannah Shevenell's stomach, liver, pancreas, oesophagus, small intestine and spleen.

Alannah received organs from a recently deceased child of the same size and blood type, and which were able to be transplanted at the same time.

Doctors expect she'll make a complete recovery.
