The Socceroos were handed a tough draw for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Bundled in the Same Group as Germany, Ghana and Serbia. Do you think the Australian Football team can make it passed the first round against this tough opposition?
Can Australian Stars Harry Kewell and Tim Cahill make their mark in South Africa and carry the Aussie's through to the finals?

Positive thinking,,,,Yes we can get passed the first round.

It really doesn't matter which draw we're in. We still have to beat all before us. Having an easy first round draw won't do anything but prolong the inevitable, whatever that might be.

Thanks for your input there Courtney, you are a real thinker.

Oz Rob has got it right. you have to beat the best to be the best. If we can't beat these teams in the first round then there is no point proceeding to the finals.

If you are hoping for any easy draw then you are defeated before you get there.

C'mon Aussies WE CAN DO IT!!!!

Hendo, I totally agree! The World Cup isn't meant to be easy. You have to beat the best to be the best...

We will get past the first round, beat England in the Round of 16, knock off Greece or France in a 1/4 final and unfortunately go down to Brazil in the semi-finals.

Am I kidding myself - no, not at all. South Korea, Turkey and Bulgaria in recent World Cup have played in semi finals - Australia could be a 'minnow' that could do the same.

Spain, however, will beat Brazil in the final and Germany will beat Australia for 3rd place.

We would have created our own history in any case!

Reckon we are a chance of getting into the second round we proved last time we could do it.

Even though I would like them to win the final I can't see them getting past this group stage, unless they can beat either Germany or Serbia and must beat Ghana

too bad...at this level of competition ALL draws are tough. if we are good enough we hopefully should get through to the next round.

the toughest aponent this campaign will be expectation and not the draw. They have allot to live up to...i hope they make it through to the second stage but dont expect them too

I like your thoughts there gtyhalas but the weight of expectation for the european teams would have to place them under more pressure. I still think we can go into the world cup with the under dog tag. No one other than the Australian public expects them to do well... hopefullty that can work in our favour

I am pumped about the world cup... I agree with JBurns. We go in as underdogs so if we make it through the to the second stage it will be a bonus.

I'm quietly confident

sorry to say football has to be the worst and most dishonest sport ever! the way grown men fall down to fake an injury just to get the ball back is in my own words a dog act and to see grown men fake an injury get stretched off the field then run back on the field soon as the stretcher crosses the sideline is also un sportsman like, i cannot watch grown men continuesly throw themselves on the ground at the slightest touch of the opposition..look at australia against italy in the last world cup ..lost to a guy faking contact ..i will not watch it this time around

I think they will do OK. Maybe not win the Finals but the team will give it the best shot they can.

toddski - are u telling me that AFL footballers never fake anything to get a 50 metre penalty? Milking free kicks is part of every sport...with such deep insights you must be a scumthorpe supporter..or six years old...

... the socceroes will have their work cut out for them...many of the top players have got older and probably slower... i dont hear the same excitment around the players as in 2006...I hope Iam wrong as I would love for them to come out on top but the signs are not there....
