Cricket Vice Captain Michael Clarke has broken his silence over his recent break-up with ex-fiance Lara Bingle.

He's held a news conference in Wellington, where he's preparing for Friday's first test match against New Zealand.

Clarke says he didn't anticipate the level of scrutiny, of his personal life.

"Look its been a very interesting couple of weeks but it is great to be back here in New Zealand with my team mates."

"The guys have been fantastic and been so supportive, I'm here preparing for a Test match against New Zealand and I'm really looking forward to Friday."

Clarke's relationship with Bingle broke down in recent weeks amid a mobile phone nude photo scandal involving Bingle and her former lover controversial AFL footballer Brendan Fevola.
